Job Purpose:

The Helpline Operator will serve as the first point of contact on the BOLO Helpline, offering compassionate, confidential support to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and other protection issues. Responsibilities include responding to calls, offering initial psychosocial support, coordinating referrals, and maintaining accurate documentation while adhering to safeguarding protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to calls related to GBV, abuse, and protection.
  • Provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) and assess caller needs.
  • Refer survivors to legal, medical, psychosocial, and shelter services.
  • Maintain call records and ensure data confidentiality.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (legal, psychosocial, referral officers).
  • Uphold the organization’s safeguarding and zero-tolerance principles.
  • Participate in training, reviews, and helpline promotions.

Required Skills & Qualities:

  • Fluency in Urdu and Pashto; English preferred.
  • Strong empathy, listening, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with GBV case handling and referral mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and digital case tracking tools.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and in sensitive environments.

Preferred/Value-Added Skills:

  • Training in PFA or Safeguarding
  • Understanding of GBV response standards
  • Knowledge of SEAH (Sexual Exploitation, Abuse & Harassment) policies
